Welcome to Bangkok – a sprawling, humid metropolis of more than 10 million souls that rose along the eastern banks of the Chao Phraya river a little more than 200 years ago.
When people tell me they hate Bangkok and don’t find a lot of things to do there, I understand. When I first visited Bangkok in 2006, I despised the city and couldn’t wait to get out.
Bangkok is one of the most beautifully complex cities in the world and its ability to teach a traveler the lessons of life make it one of my favorite destinations.
