Cox Communications is searching for a Senior Broadcast Video Engineer (Executive Channel Focus) to join the Broadcast Video Operations Support Group which provides 24×7 Operational Support & Fault Management for anything related to the receiving, processing, and delivering of IP Video services over Cox's National Backbone Network.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provide Video Infrastructure support for all Services at the Cox Technology Centers and other Video locations.
Communication of troubleshooting & repair information to the NOC to ensure 24×7 uninterrupted delivery of Video services with participation in on-call rotations.
Contribute to creating and maintaining all documentation related to the video infrastructure in national head ends (IRDs, Encoders, Switches, Monitoring, etc).
Provide input to the future network design and architecture of the video delivery network. Become an integral part in the Development and Growth of the new Broadcast Video.
Primary liaison for coordinating and conducting events with the Cox Executive Channel.
Qualifications:
Minimum:

• 5 years of industry experience with a Video/Broadcast or Network Operations focus. • Familiarity with Content Acquisition, Ingest, and Publishing functions as it relates to a typical video delivery model.
• Strong knowledge of audio/video codecs along with MPEG program and transport stream encapsulation and distribution.
• Strong experience designing/troubleshooting video technology.
• In depth knowledge Video Quality and Video Artifacts.
• Strong experience in operating and troubleshooting network technologies.
• In depth understanding of event monitoring (alerting, diagnostics, solutions).
• Understanding of technology standards and specifications related to transmissions systems, data transport equipment, network links, network interfaces, network protocols, and network management is required.
• Experience with configuring and installing hardware, ranging from servers to network equipment.
• Must be able to work through technical resolution of problems in a cross functional 24×7 environment.
• Must be able to work with Cox executive teams (technical and non-technical) to coordinate and produce live streaming events.
• Traveling to remote events may be required as needed. Up to 15% of time.
Preferred
• Prefer BS in MIS, CIS, EE or Associates degree in related discipline; 5-8 years of experience in Technology or Telecommunications Industry. MS/MA and 3-5 years of experience in related field.
• Cisco, Juniper or SBE certification.
