Class Summary

The IT Department is committed to empowering business stakeholders with technology and services that facilitate effective processes, collaboration, and communication. The Emerging Technologies/Digital Transformation Division has overall responsibility for the development, maintenance, and support of several of the core business systems and solutions including Geospatial, Public Safety, Web, and New Technology. As an IT Manager within New Technology Solutions, you will mentor and manage supervisors and employees in a fast-paced and changing environment. You will also be responsible for budget planning and management, contract review and management, project oversight, and software license management.
 
Essential duties include:

  • Providing direction in the development, implementation, support, and operations of the New Technology Solutions section of the Enterprise Applications and Support Division
  • Communicate clearly to mentor and manage supervisors and employees in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Evaluating technology solutions and embracing innovation to find new and better ways to provide services
  • Facilitating projects between end-users and the department
  • Performing complex information technology work
  • Participating in management team meetings
  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures, technical standards, and methods
  • Collaborating and goal setting with other IT sections to determine organizational goals and expectations
  • Preparing a variety of reports, requests for proposals, and other documentation related to information technology plans, projects, performance, and accomplishments.
  • Developing, managing, and administering capital and operating budgets
The Grade for this position is Grade 108.
 
This job requires a public safety background check to include thorough motor vehicle histories, criminal histories and fingerprinting.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a computer science-related field
  • Eight years of progressively responsible information technology experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will also be considered.
