Description

Lead the Corporation's Power Quality program. Initiate and oversee System Reliability (SR) efforts to improve the reliability performance of the transmission system to meet Member needs and Corporate goals. Lead the Corporation’s Fault Recorder, Power Quality and Data Automation Programs. Represent corporate interests with GPC, MEAG, Dalton and other external organizations such as GA Tech, EPRI and IEEE. Work with outside companies to provide/develop Fault and Power Quality tool automation products. Work with other utilities to develop and improve EPRI products such as the PQ Dashboard, TRENDAP and OpenXDA. Serve as primary SR contact for other departments to ensure that products and reports (such as PQ Dashboard, Fault and Breaker Timing reports and the Fault Trace Tool) meet their needs. Provide direction to other department staff with outage investigation, clearance mitigation, benchmarking, project justification, relaying issues, and lightning issues as needed. Review and evaluate the work products of peers and train/mentor less experienced engineers and staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:   Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.


Experience:   Ten (10) years power utility experience or eight (8) years power utility experience with PE license, with at least five (5) years of planning, relay test, maintenance, and/or operations experience in the transmission area of an electric utility.

 

Equivalent Experience:   Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and 14 years (eight years with a P.E.) of utility experience, with at least ten years in planning, operations, reliability, relay test, and/or maintenance.


Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: ITS qualified operator status, valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Proficient with: Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and graphics; Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, large databases and/or Microsoft Access. Advanced technical knowledge of generation, power quality, relaying, lightning, and transmission operations are essential. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to independently plan, organize and successfully complete assignments. Teamwork and leadership skills are required. Capable of preparing and delivering presentations to various groups (internal and external). Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
