The inauguration of Donald Trump

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, a couple of months after he became just the second person in history to win a nonconsecutive term in the White House.

Trump defeated Kamala Harris in November’s election, completing a historic political comeback four years after he lost to Joe Biden. Trump served as president from 2017-2021.

The inauguration is set to take place inside the US Capitol Rotunda due to dangerously cold temperatures projected in the nation’s capital.

Thousands of people who had tickets to attend the event outdoors will not be able to fit into the new indoor configuration. Trump has encouraged his supporters to instead attend a live viewing of the event at Washington’s Capital One Arena. He said he will come to the arena after the inauguration at the Capitol.

A presidential inauguration was last held indoors in 1985, when President Ronald Reagan was inaugurated for his second term.Read more...
