Automakers use the phrase "all-new" with the same broad license that Subway applies to "fresh." True clean-sheet designs are rare in this business, and there's a reason engineers typically don't rewrite the whole recipe. Change too many variables at once and you risk breaking something that wasn't broken. But 93-year-old Volvo has spent the last six years cranking out new vehicles that are as fresh as anything made of plastic, steel, and glass can be.
