The Ford Mustang has been an icon of performance and style for generations, with its balanced design that displays forward momentum just standing still, and a dedication to the balance of power and ability. It’s a car to which generations of first-time buyers have aspired, and a year-in-year-out constant on the most affordable lists, with a low buy-in for its base model.
And as a new generation of buyers looks toward purchasing their first electric vehicles, it’s appropriate to look at what they can get for the $31,920 price tag of the entry-level 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback. Granted, the cars on this list don’t have the visceral appeal of the Mustang (few cars do), but dollar for dollar, here’s what’s available.
The 2023 Kia EV6 GT made its U.S. debut in late 2022, to offer more than a way to get from Point A to Point B as cheaply and cleanly as possible. Built on Hyundai’s global modular electric platform, the EV6 GT is fitted with an AWD dual-motor system and a 77-kWh battery to put out 576 horsepower, and gets the car from zero to 60 mph in about three seconds, more than two seconds quicker than the base Mustang, while saving $600 annually on fuel (according to the EPA).
The 2023 Kia EV6 is naturally in a different universe than the 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback, but the EV6 GT crossover is far more powerful, quicker, and more efficient than the old-school sports coupe. Attractiveness is in the mind of the beholder, and each has different ways to appeal to different buyers, whether that’s the practicality of the EV6 or the testosterone-stimulation of the Mustang.
